CAUTION: measurements on the low friction surface of a fluoropolymer using a micrometer are subject to operator error. It is very difficult to feel the initial contact between the micrometer and the surface. The screw mechanism of the micrometer makes it easy for the operator to pass the point of initial contact and read a measurement lower than the correct value. Accurate contact measurements are achieved through training and experience.
